The Process Design Kit (PDK) Engineer develops, deploys, supports and maintains high-quality, feature-rich Process Design Kits used by Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. The role translates semiconductor process requirements, design rules and SPICE model documentation into reliable PDK components, automation solutions and verification test cases. Working with process, modeling, design enablement and customer-facing teams, the engineer helps ensure accurate, error-free PDK releases and clear technical documentation for proper customer use.
Your Job
- Develop design components for Process Design Kits, including technology files and runtime code readable by Electronic Design Automation tools.
- Develop, deploy, support and maintain PDK components that accurately represent semiconductor fabrication processes.
- Develop, deploy, support and maintain automation tools used in PDK development, validation and release activities.
- Review and interpret process design rules and SPICE model documentation, and translate the requirements into specifications and data for PDK development.
- Create and maintain test cases for PDK components, including Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) and Parasitic Extraction (PEX) flows.
- Perform quality assurance checks and regression testing to support accurate, stable and error-free PDK deliveries to customers.
- Investigate PDK defects, identify root causes and implement appropriate corrections in collaboration with relevant technical teams.
- Create and update release notes, application notes and other technical documentation covering proper usage, known limitations, issues and available solutions.
- Provide technical support for PDK deployment, integration and usage, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of PDK development methods, automation, testing coverage, documentation and release quality.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- Work collaboratively on other projects and assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Microelectronics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge or experience in semiconductor design enablement, PDK development, integrated circuit design, physical verification, EDA application engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of semiconductor process technology, integrated circuit design flows and Process Design Kit structures.
- Experience with physical verification area such as Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), or Parasitic Extraction (PEX) will be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret design-rule documentation, technology specifications and SPICE model information.
- Programming or scripting capability for engineering automation, data processing, testing or tool integration.
- Strong analytical, debugging, documentation and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and release quality.
